This one started out as a quick sketch in painter inspired by the latest IFX magazine where the front cover is about a frontal male warrior pose and the fact they hadn't one yet on their cover ... that got me thinking I didn't have one either :-)

Still trying to find a good usage of the realbristle brushes to achieve my traditional painting style digitally and how to use them in illustrations ... it's hard to paint details with these brushes and even harder in keeping the details when the original canvas is resized to accomodate the web, etc ...

Anybody that can share similar experiences ?

This painting was done entirely in corel painter and based upon an old pencil sketch of the warrior. I added the whole landscape with bridge and castle to impose a dramatic feeling of a "lonely warrior defending the sole entrance towards his home against some agressors" ...
